epistolary games
Epistolary games are games played by two (sometimes more) players who send letters to each other! Generally you and your partner write in character to each other, as events unfold in the imaginary world you are both inhabiting. Here is a selection of epistolary games I like.
These games can all be found on itch.io, which is a WONDERFUL creative platform for people who make games and zines of all kinds. I encourage you to explore it at your leisure :)
adrift in the station revenants
you are a solitary scout, sent off to scour through the digital memory of abandoned mech stations. your orders are clear: find what information is useful, find what information is corrupted, report back to mission command. it is a simple, straightforward task.
but this station is different. this correspondence is familiar to you.
//survivor, how did you gain access to these logs? what do you hope to find inside?
//ghost, how did you die?

thin black gulf
This one provides interesting mechanics and allows you to choose your own world and characters. After writing a letter you roll to see what parts you must cut out, with options such as "the sentence you most hoped they'd read".
will you be able to get through to the other party, or will you be forever separated by a thin black gulf?

A game of academic squabbles for two or more players.
Fight for your hypothesis in a series of responses published by one of the journals in your field. Defend your academic integrity at all costs. Everyone needs to know your rival is wrong.

a worldbuilding game that is different to the others on this list. one player chronicles the artifacts and monuments of a world ending, the other player(s) act as witnesses, reflecting and remembering and adding knowledge to the chronicle.
